Being safe online

The internet is part of our everyday lives and is a fantastic place to learn, connect with others and have fun. It's never been more important to be a good digital citizen and to behave online just as you do in the rest of your life. When you have a good understanding of what the internet can do, you can take steps to keep yourself safe from illegal content and unwanted content that makes you feel upset or unsafe.

Your teachers and parents want you to use the internet to learn and have fun with your friends but they also want you to keep safe. The internet has great benefits but things can go wrong, so you need to understand the risks and have the skills to protect yourself when you are online.

Build your skills to get the most out of your time online.

  • Learn about privacy, your rights and the law
  • Find tips for respectful behaviour online
  • How much is too much time online?
  • Find help and support for when you feel unsafe online
